Krista & Ryan’s wedding at Horning’s Hideout in Oregon was like something out of a magical fairytale. Crystals, handmade mushrooms, lush florals all tucked into this beautiful pocket of forest at Horning’s Hideout in North Plains, Oregon. Read on to learn more about their wedding day and helpful information for getting married at the Horning’s Hideout wedding venue!
The bride, Krista, shared her vision of their Horning’s Hideout wedding in Oregon as “…one filled with light, joy, and magick. Surrounded by gorgeous forest and a lovely trickling creek, I see Ryan and I surrounded by family and friends, on a day where we cannot stop staring at each other. I picture the two of us sneaking off into the woods to be alone and share private thoughts, to get away from the crowd for a time and truly feel each other’s love. I see our families and friends reuniting with one other and meeting new people, laughing and sharing stories about the two of us, and the nieces, nephews and cousins running around in nature, finding treasures and playing games. I wish for every person to feel included in this special day, hope they feel the awe of the surrounding beauty, and to have a hell of a time partying with us.”
Although the woodland environment of Horning’s Hideout is stunning in its own right, Krista & Ryan took their vision a step further by enlisting a skilled florist to add extra special touches to the space. Katie of Blooms and Twine Floral utilized locally grown Pacific Northwest flowers, most of them being native flora from within 50 miles of Horning’s Hideout. The covered reception area was customized with hanging Spanish moss, a sentimental request from the Bride, whose father has it all over his home. Ryan’s boutonniere and Krista’s bridal bouquet both featured intricately woven crystal points.
The true star of the show was the ceremony area. The groom, Ryan, hand-built a wooden arch with his family. Local flowers and ferns graced the arch, seamlessly merging it with the forest backdrop. The awe-inspiring aisle walkway, crafted solely from sustainably sourced local moss (yes, moss!), was meticulously hand-placed on-site by the Blooms and Twine Floral team. The final touches were crystals and mushrooms handmade by Ukrainian artist, Yuliya Kashina, placed in a fairy circle at the end of the plush moss runner to surround the couple as they shared their “I Do’s”.
As one of my top woodsy forest wedding venues in Oregon for several reasons – Horning’s Hideout has a unique feature. There are actually THREE incredible and distinctive venue options on the property!
Located on the southern shore of the lake, this venue space has the capacity to comfortably accommodate up to 350 individuals. The surroundings are partially wooded along the lakeside, and fully forested on the opposite side, with a beautifully designed waterfall feature stretching 160 feet adjacent to a designated ceremony space. At the heart of this picturesque location lies a spacious covered area and a lush grass lawn.
Located on the north side of the lake, the Stage area boasts ample space to accommodate up to 700 people. A stunning 65-foot wide wooden stage takes center stage, offering a beautiful focal point for any event. Situated directly adjacent to the lake, the stage provides a unique vantage point just above the waterline, surrounded by trees on either side.
This location is my personal favorite because my partner & I originally booked the Creekside location for OUR own wedding day (before changing plans to a small elopement). Nestled in a serene wooded enclave alongside a natural creek, the Creekside area is a picturesque setting that can comfortably accommodate up to 250 guests. Towering trees provide a majestic backdrop to the lush surroundings, featuring a tranquil pond and a gently flowing creek that runs alongside the ceremony area. Additionally, a spacious lawn area adds to the versatility of this venue with plenty of room for kids to run around or to set-up lawn games.
The 2024 pricing for the Horning’s Hideout wedding base package ranges from $3850 – 4350 (depending on day) and includes 80 chairs, 10 six ft round tables with linens that seat 10 each. Package amenities also include a changing room, an arbor, as well as tiled and flushing restrooms. Each location has a spacious covered area that can seat up to 130 people complete with a dance floor area, built-in buffet tables, water access, BBQ grill, and electric power. Horning’s Hideout offers one of the more generous rental lengths I’ve seen at an Oregon wedding venue. When you book an area for your wedding it becomes exclusively yours for the entire day from 11:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. the following day. This can be super nice to allow you, your guests, and your vendors enough time to enjoy the day without having to rush on either end!
If you dream of keeping your wedding experience going through the night, a really cool feature of all three wedding locations at Horning’s Hideout are the group campsites that can fit up to 80 people! You can add this on to your wedding package for $275 and your overnight guests can stay at the campsite until 11:00am the next morning!
Horning’s Hideout is truly a wedding photography wonderland! There is an abundance of picturesque locations across the entire property that offer beautiful backdrops for everything from your ceremony, portraits, and reception candids of your guests having a great time! If you’re looking for romantic couples portraits, there are several creeks & ponds with bridges to take photos at, along with pockets of forest to make it feel like it’s just you and your partner soaking up the love of your day. Due to the tall tree canopies there is ample shade and diffused light for beautiful photography, especially in the Creekside location. There are wonderful spots to catch the golden glow of the sunset along the hillsides too!
